The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday prepared a report to
undertake infrastructure works across the city to the tune of Rs 300 crore
before two major projects — the Metro corridor and the elevated road — are
completed. The report is likely to be approved next week.
Officials said the report, prepared by the GDA after consultations with various agencies, includes plans to construct underpasses, service roads, foot overbridges and pavements at various locations in the city. The primary objective behind this was to improve infrastructure works pertaining to transportation within the city limits, they said.
Officials said traffic inflow into Ghaziabad is expected to increase manifold after the completion of the proposed Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand Metro corridor and the Hindon Elevated Road. "These two projects are expected to ease travel between NCR cities and bring in more traffic into Ghaziabad than usual. Local infrastructure such as roads needs to be strengthened and streamlined before that," added Goyal.
